How do I check the production status of my order?

Please email us at order@topknotch.com and one of the CSR's will respond back, you can always call us at 905-624-5100 and talk to one of the CSR's

What is the average turnaround time for a job? What is the process once the job is sent in?

Once an order is placed our CSR's will make a docket and email a copy to review; then the job is forwarded over to the prepress department. The file is preflighted, ripped and a soft proof is generated which will be email back to the client for approval. Once an approval is sent, Digital and wide format orders with basic bindery is ready for pickup in 1-2 days, Offset jobs can take 3-5 days

How can I change the specifications of an order that I have placed?

Orders can only be changed if they are in the prepress stage and wiating for approval. It is best to call our office and discuss this with one of our CSR's to see if they can stop it before the next process. There will be addional costs depending at which stage the order is stopped

File Upload Instructions

  • File formats accepted: PDF, JPG, TIF and EPS.
  • Please make sure your files are converted to CMYK for process jobs as spot colours for PMS jobs. Our system will automically convert RGB files to CMYK but the results might not be the same as converting and colour correcting on your computers
  • File must be at least 300 DPI (dots per inch) for best printing results otherwise the print will not be sharp and will appear grainy. For optimum results please supply 400dpi
  • When creating PDF files, choose the "Press Quality" setting and disable all compression in the options compression tabs
  • For calendars, magazines, manuals, newsletters and any other multi-pages documents, please upload one multi-page PDF. Do not upload each page separately. However, if the cover is to be printed on a different paper than the rest of the document, please provide one multi-page PDF file for the cover and one multi-page PDF file for the rest of the pages. The PDF pages for each multi-page PDF file must be in the right sequence (cover page is page one, inside cover is page two, etc.).
  • For designs with bleeds please have a bleed size setup of 0.125" per side.

Proofing Options

Depending on the process of the print your proffing options will vary
Digital Printing: The default proof is a soft pdf proof, you have the option of a proof on the actual paper for addional costs; please contact us for pricing.
Wide Format Printing: The default proof is a soft pdf proof, you have the option of a proof on the actual paper for addional costs; please contact us for pricing.
Offset Printing: The default proof is a soft pdf proof, the other option is an Epson proof which is an inkjet based proof printed on a 8mill semigloss paper. The colour is 90% accurate but will change depending on the paper stock, coating, laminating and other finishes.
